Alot of my non Indian friends are intrigued by a saree. It is a long piece of cloth that can be draped around our body in many ways. I wore it in a style called "Mumtaz" which was originated in the 70's when a popular Indian actress named Mumtaz started this trend. I had to take baby steps all the time :p but nonetheless this is my favorite-est style since it enhances the feminine curves and gives a subtle sensuous look.
This is a gorgeous blue saree with very intricate detailing in gold and crystals which makes it look ultra glamarous and dazzling without looking tacky.
It took me forever to get dressed and unfortunately these pictures dont do justice to it . I went to a salon (Neo Salon , Mega Mall , DLF Phase 1) for saree draping and hair and though the end results turned out to be decent , they didn't seem to have much experience. So basically me and my mom had to explain them and they were executing it .
Since I was going in a for a complete 70's look I decided to have nice puffed up hairstyle. In Tokyo, I do something like this myself but here I wanted to enjoy the luxuries of going to a beauty parlor. They couldn't really puff up my hair that much because its too straight. So I handed them my BUMPIT which is the most awesome thing to have.I will do a tutorial later on how to use it but this gives a lot of volume to the hair easily. I also got some strands of my hair crimped to add some uniqueness.I did the usual black smokey eyes ,nude lips ,slipped into my 3 inch hell stilettos and accessorized with some dazzling jewellery and I was all set to go.
